Shincheonji Chairman Man Hee Lee, who first proposed the international online prayer meeting stated, “There are so many people suffering from COVID-19, especially in February when many people were infected in the church. The saints and citizens suffered a lot. We should actively pray to God for the end of COVID-19 for the sake of the country and the people.”
Shincheonji also has hosted multiple convalescent plasma donation drives to collect plasma from recovered patients that can be used for treatment and / or vaccine development. So far over 1,700 members have donated plasma and 4,000 more are expected on November 16th in the next donation drive. A Shincheonji spokesperson said, “The intention is to pray together for rapid development of the treatment and the end of COVID-19 ahead of the third group plasma donation involving 4,000 cured saints. We will do everything we can with a responsible attitude until the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Shincheonji church reported that it has not held any face-to-face service since February 18th, but they have been praying for the end of COVID-19, the safety of quarantine officials and medical staff, and the recovery of patients since the initial outbreak.
